“3+2” Bachelor Program in Electrical Engineering and Automation for International Students

1. Introduction

Electrical Engineering and Automation were established in 2003. The development of this major relies on the meteorological characteristics and advantages of the University, based on the service industry, serving the economic transformation and industrial structure upgrading of Jiangsu Province. This major emphasizes engineering practice and reflects the trend of internationalization.

The major is to cultivate the interdisciplinary talents who have broad theoretical basis, professional 

knowledge and practical ability in electric engineering and automation, can engage in equipment manufacturing, system operation, automatic control, information processing, experimental analysis, technological development and computer application.

The graduates master the basic theory and design of electric control system, can carry out the relevant engineering practice training, have the abilities of designing common automatic control system, motor speed control system and power supply system of factories.

 

2. Objectives

The students trained in this major should have engineering technology foundation and certain professional knowledge in a wide range of fields, such as electrical technology, electronic technology, control theory, automatic detection and instrumentation, information processing, system engineering, computer technology and application, and network technology. 

They can be trained in motion control, industrial process control, power electronics technology, detection and automation instruments, electronics and computer technology. 

Senior engineers and technicians engaged in system analysis, system design, system operation, scientific and technological development and research in the fields of technology, information processing, management and decision-making.

4. Introduction to Core Courses

Principle and Application of Embedded System: The course introduces the basic concept and structure of embedded system, arm instruction system, interface circuit, analysis and design of embedded system, software design of embedded system, hardware design of embedded system, analysis and transplant of embedded operating system.

Automatic Control Theory: The course includes Introduction to Control Systems, Mathematical Models of Systems, State Variable Models, Feedback Control System Characteristics, The Performance of Feedback Control Systems, The Stability of Linear Feedback Systems, The Root Locus Method, Frequency Response Methods, Stability in the Frequency Domain, The Design of Feedback Control Systems, The Design of State Variable Feedback Systems, Robust Control Systems, and Digital Control Systems.

Engineering Software Application Training: This course teaches the application of the computer and software in engineering design and scientific research field. It Studies and grasps the computer elementary operation method and how to use engineering software through unifies with the practice, advancing student's knowledge.

Signal and Systems: Signal and Systems is a compulsory course which is available to all undergraduates of the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation. Signal and Systems focuses on the characteristics of signal and the linear time-invariant system, the basic analysis of signal through linear systems and so on. This course is designed to improve their transferable skills and enhance their employability.

Electric Machinery Theory: Electric Machinery Theory is a compulsory major course for undergraduates majoring in Electrical Engineering and Automation. In Electric Machinery Theory, there are theories, concepts and close connections with engineering practice. The construction and theories of transformers, induction motors and synchronous generators are introduced in details. This course is designed to lay the necessary foundation for further study of professional courses and professional work after graduation.

Power System Analysis: Power System Analysis is a compulsory major course for undergraduates majoring in Electrical Engineering and Automation. In Power System Analysis, you will learn the composition and basic principles of the power system, the calculation method of each component parameter in the power system, the power flow calculation method of the power grid, the short-circuit calculation method, the system voltage regulation and frequency adjustment method, and the stability analysis of the system operation, and etc. This course is designed to improve their transferable skills and enhance their employability.

Embedded System DesignIn Embedded System Design, you will learn the principles and methods of embedded system design. According to the application requirements, the corresponding computer is directly embedded into the application system. The knowledge system and engineering practice of embedded software are organically integrated, so that students can master the basic theory, development technology and tools of embedded system design, and have the design and development capabilities of embedded software in the fields of communication, information appliances, industrial control, mobile computing equipment, network equipment, etc. This course is designed to improve their transferable skills and enhance their employability.

Microcomputer Principle and Interface Technology: In Microcomputer Principle and Interface Technology, you will learn the principle of computer work from central processing unit to memory to various external devices. The principles and working methods are elaborated in this course. This course is one of the few courses directly related to hardware for this major, which enables students to effectively master the hardware knowledge of microcomputers. This course is designed to improve their transferable skills and enhance their employ ability.

Graphing of Engineering: In Graphing of Engineering, you will learn the basic principles of engineering drawing, the National Drawing standards, the basic theory of projection method of points, lines, surfaces and bodies and its application. As a tool for engineering design and technical exchange, engineering drawing is known as the language of engineering technology and the world's common language. This course is designed to improve your transferable skills and enhance your employability.

Digital Signal Processing: In Digital Signal Processing, you will master the basic theory and methods of digital signal processing through lectures, exercises and experiments. It lays a good foundation for further study and research. This course is designed to improve your transferable skills and enhance their employability.

6. Graduation Requirement

Students shall pass sufficient courses in the program to get no less than 60 credits, pass HSK Level 4 (or above) and pass the Graduation Design (Thesis) defense.
