The Academic Affairs Department (AAD) hosted an engaging Research Fair on October 26 and 27, 2024, from 6 to 8 PM in classroom 107, Yu Community. The event aimed to support first-year master's students and new researchers as they embarked on their research journeys, offering essential guidance, resources, and networking opportunities with senior scholars to foster their succeed at NUIST.
The Research Fair began with a warm welcome from AAD President Toluwalase Isogun. This was followed by inspiring talk from prominent NUIST scholars, who shared valuable insights from their research journeys and extensive publication records. The speakers provided practical tips on selecting research topics, managing time effectively, and writing for academic journals. They emphasized the importance of understanding the expectations of professors and supervisors, distinguishing between administrative and research-focused mentors, and encouraged students to seek guidance and inspiration from senior scholars.
Day 1: Business and Meteorology Session
The first session, centered on Business and Meteorology, provided students with interactive learning opportunities and practical insights into research methodologies. Speakers, included Ph.D. candidates Goma Tshivetta Christian F. Lansana David Dauda, Boamah Valentina, Emmanuel Yeboah, Nyasulu Matthews, Kyaw Than Oo, along with master's student Hossain Sazib. They offered valuable guidance on choosing research topics and fields, selecting journals, managing time, and building strong relationships with academic supervisors. After the talks, students had the chance to engage directly with the presenters, exchanging ideas, sharing laughs, and building confidence in their research
journeys.
Day 2: CST, A.I and I.C.E Session
The second session opened with remarks from by AAD Vice President Tony Nkomoki, setting a focused and purposeful tone for the evening. Distinguished Scholars, including PhD candidates Christian Fersein, Danso Solomon Danquah, and the main speaker, final-year Ph.D. candidate Lord Amoah, along with Toluwalase Isogun, emphasized the importance of early research planning. They shared valuable tips for efficient time management, highlighting that research success is often achieved by starting early and maintaining a strong commitment throughout the journey.
