The Computer Electronic and Software Society (CESS) recently held a four-day workshop titled Introduction to Large Language Models facilitated by PhD candidate, Mr. Khant Hmu Paing. The event took place in the Mingde building and Yuejiang building, offering students comprehensive introduction to Large Language Models (LLMs). The workshop covered everything from foundational concepts to hands-on model training and practical applications.
The instructor passionately explained key concepts to the students during the lecture.
In the first week, students were introduced to the foundational concepts behind LLMs, including essential text data processing techniques for training language models. Classroom photos capture attentive students as the instructor guides them through the material using large screens, fostering an interactive environment for understanding these complex topics.
In the second week of the workshop, students engaged in hands-on coding exercises under the instructor's guidance, focusing on implementing the attention mechanism, building a GPT model, training it.
At the end of the final session, participants gathered for a group photo to celebrate their learning journey together. Throughout the workshop, attendees were fully engaged in both theoretical and practical sessions, eagerly applying the concepts they learned during real-time coding exercises. As a token of appreciation for their dedication, all participants received an activity stamp, acknowledging their active involvement in this valuable educational experience. Those who successfully submitted the project implementations were awarded certificates in recognition of their commitment and dedication to the workshop.
CESS sincerely appreciates the enthusiasm and dedication demonstrated by all participants during the workshop. We are excited to continue hosting such events in the future, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and academic excellence.
