On July 20th, for the first time in Jinniuhu Campus, the Domestic Affairs Department (DAD) hosted a Chess Competition for International students—the event was held at 2 PM in room N426. of the Shangxue Building.
Chess is a fun and competitive strategy game that is a cultural treasure with a rich history spanning centuries. Originating in India during the Gupta Empire, it has evolved through various cultures and eras, ultimately becoming the game we know today. Played by millions worldwide, chess has not only served as a test of intellect and strategic thinking but has also inspired countless literary works, movies, and studies on human cognition. The intricate movements of the pieces, the deep strategic planning, and the mental endurance required make it a profoundly enriching pastime. Chess clubs and tournaments have fostered international camaraderie, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds who share a common passion for the game.
