Mastering Graduation Thesis Writing at Jinniuhu Campus

The Graduation Thesis Writing Workshop, orchestrated by the International Economy Committee from the Academic Affairs Department (AAD), occurred on December 16th from 5 PM to 7 PM at Liyuan Building, room 101.

The Objective of the training

In recognition of the formidable challenges that crafting a graduation thesis presents to students, aimed to equip NUIST students with indispensable skills and insights. This lecture sought to render the thesis writing process smooth and triumphantly successful.

Trainer

Ms. Boamah Valentina, Ph.D. student in Management Science and Engineering, conducted the training. She gave us all the necessary tips and information to write a good thesis.

The Workshop contents

The lecture was about assessing the question: “Research learning or stress?” as the main issue underlining the workshop topic. The session covered different steps in writing a good graduation thesis. Ms. Valentina provided some tips and techniques for every step, which includes:

Determining the Motivation and Background of the research topic

Writing a good Introduction, stating the research problem

Follow up with study questions, aims, objectives, and study innovation

Using some websites and databases like Google Scholar, Web of Science, and JSTOR to find existing literature and write a good Literature review, Methodology, and approach

Explaining the results and findings

Writing a good conclusion and recommendation with suggestions for policymakers and future studies.

Ms. Boamah Valentina also introduced several Citation and Reference styles, including the one adopted in NUIST and a brief introduction to some websites that can help us cite literature easily.

Closing

The event ended at 7 PM after a Q&A session where the audience was allowed to ask any question regarding academic paper writing. The president delivered the closing remarks, acknowledging all parties contributing to the program.
