III. Scholarship Coverage
A full scholarship that covers tuition fee, free university dormitory, comprehensive medical insurance and stipend (master’s students: CNY 3,000 per month; doctoral students: CNY 3,500 per month).
IV. Eligibility
To be eligible, an applicant must:
1. be a citizen of a country other than the PRC and in good health both mentally and physically;
2. be an academically excellent holder of a bachelor’s degree under the age of 35 when applying for a master’s program;
3. be an academically excellent holder of a master’s degree under the age of 40 when applying for a doctoral program;
4. have acquired the Chinese proficiency of HSK (Level 5) when applying for a Chinese-taught postgraduate program;
5. have TOEFL 80+ or IELTS 6.0+ when applying for a English-taught postgraduate program ( for non-native English speakers);
6. meet the admission requirements of the university in terms of academic ability and other relevant criteria.
V. Application Process
1. Submit an application in the university’s application system (https://nuist.17gz.org/member/login.do) before February 15, 2024. Please select “Chinese Government Scholarship”, input application information and upload application documents.
2. Eligible applicants shall attend an academic interview organized by the university in February or March 2024.
3. The university will award a Pre-admission to the selected candidates. The candidates shall complete an online application via the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (http://www.campuschina.org). Please upload the Pre-admission Notice issued by the university and other application documents in the system. Please choose “Program Category Type B” and the Agency Number of Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology (NUIST) is 10300.
4. The university shall submit the recommended candidates list to the China Scholarship Council (CSC).
5. The CSC will organize experts concerned to examine applicants’ eligibility and academic performance before finalizing the short-list candidates.
6. The CSC will notify the admission results to the university that will subsequently have the applicants informed.
VI. Application Deadline
Submit an application in the university’s application system (https://nuist.17gz.org/member/login.do) before Feb. 15, 2024.
VII. Application Documents
1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (in Chinese or English);
2. Copy of Passport Home Page. If the validity of the applicant’s current passport does not meet the requirement (meaning the passport expires before September 2024), please apply for a new passport before submitting the application;
3. Notarized highest diploma. Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations;
4. Notarized academic transcripts (from the undergraduate program onwards). Copies of academic records from first to last semester during the undergraduate, graduate (if any), and doctoral programs (if any) shall be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attending university’s academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department. They can be in Chinese or English, but must be attached with notarized English translations if they are in foreign languages other than English;
5. Language qualification certificates. Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must submit a valid HSK (Level 5) report. Applicants for English-taught programs must submit a valid English proficiency certificate (TOEFL 80+ /IELTS 6.0+) if they are from non-English speaking countries;
6. Applicants for doctoral programs must submit an acceptance form signed by a doctoral supervisor from NUIST;

7. A study plan or research proposal. A study plan written in Chinese or English shall contain more than 1,000 characters or words; the proposal of a doctoral student shall be signed by the applicant’s Chinese supervisor;
8. Recommendation letters. Two letters of recommendation (written only in Chinese or English) from professors or associate professors shall be submitted. These letters shall describe the applicant’s objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth, as well as the cooperation between the supervisors or the exchange between universities both in China and abroad;
9. A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy shall be kept by the applicant). The form is designed by the Chinese quarantine authority and it can be downloaded from https://gjy.nuist.edu.cn/english/DownloadforAdmission/list.htm.
The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take a physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months;
10. Non-criminal record report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application;
11. Other supporting materials (such as published papers, job certificate, certificates of awards and training, etc.).
Reminder: Uploaded application documents must be clear, authentic and valid. Applicants are recommended to use a professional device to scan the relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by unclear or unidentifiable uploaded materials.
VIII. Other Information
1. Scholarship recipients shall not receive other freshman scholarship offered by the Chinese government, local governments or institutions at the same time.
2. Scholarship recipients shall not change their host university, major, or duration of study stipulated on the Admission Letter.
3. Scholarship will not be reserved if scholarship recipients cannot register before the registration deadline.
4. Scholarship recipients shall attend the annual review according to the university’s Measures on Annual Review of Government Scholarships at the end of each academic year.
