Borrowing Privileges for International Students

Article 1 International students can borrow books within the library’s stipulated volumes by the E-card of the students themselves.

Article 2 Undergraduates and advanced students can borrow at most eight books for one month each time, and postgraduates can borrow at most twelve books for two month each time. Undergraduates and advanced students can borrow two foreign books each time, and master students and PhD students can borrow four foreign books each time.

Article 3 Students can renew a book when it is due on the condition that no other person registers for the book in advance. Undergraduates and advanced students can renew the book for fifteen days and postgraduates can renew the book for thirty days.

Article 4 Students can borrow common books at the loan desks. Books and periodicals in the reading rooms are only for reading and not allowed to be taken out of the rooms. If students need to copy some books in the reading rooms, they shall go through the procedure of temporary borrowing and return the books in the same day. If they do not return the books in time, they shall be fined 2 CNY per book per day. After reading, students shall return the books to the original place or put them in the small book cart to facilitate the staff to sort them out.

Article 5 All the books borrowed must be returned in time. Each expired Chinese book will be fined 0.1 CNY per day and each expired English book will be fined 0.2 CNY per day. The books that are due during summer and winter vacations can be returned within the first week of the new semester (registration days excluded). The books that are due during the official holidays, such as the Labor Day and the National Day, can be returned within 3 days after the holidays.

Article 6 International students should take good care of the borrowed books. If the borrowed books are smeared, damaged or lost, or some pages are missed, students will be punished in accordance with Compensation Measures on the Damage and Loss of Books and Periodicals Caused by Readers in NUIST. Students involved in serious cases will also be given other penalties by relevant departments apart from the compensation.

Article 7 International students shall return all the books to the library, pay off all the fees and cancel the registration status of the E-card before graduation.

Article 8 Other regulations and rules of the university library shall all apply to international students.
