IMSA 10th YEAR ANNIVERSARY
On December 17 2021, the NUIST International Meteorology students Association (NUIST-IMSA) celebrated its 10th anniversary, and conducted its first Science Forum held at C101 in the Reading Building.
IMSA 10th YEAR ANNIVERSARY
IMSA remains one of the notable associations of international students, under the umbrella of the College of International Students (CIS) in Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST). It all began on the 29th Day of September, 2012. The formation was ably led by Miss. Candy. It has achieved several academic milestones through training, sharing, and conducting different academic activities. All students enrolled in NUIST, majoring in Atmospheric sciences including; Meteorology, Applied-Meteorology, Atmospheric Physics, Hydrometeorology, Remote Sensing, Marine Science, and Environmental Science get support from IMSA.
IMSA runs a series of activities:
· Meteorology-related software training, seminars, conferences, field trips.
· Participating in academic forums meant for meteorology students where they get the opportunity to share their research findings and experiences.
· Collaborates with other departments under CIS to organize educative and informative events.
· Fun games and farewell parties.
IMSA 10th YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Currently, Miss. Karen serves as the coordinator for IMSA.
During the tenth anniversary celebration, there were introductory/welcome speeches given by the IMSA president, Miss. Chelsea (IMSA’s former coordinator), and Miss. Karen. The introductory speeches were followed by a lecture given by Dr. Brian Ayugi, the guest speaker for the event. He began by recalling and sharing his experiences with IMSA, prior to delving into the theme entitled:
“FUTURE DIRECTIONS IN GLOBALLY COORDINATED CLIMATE CHANGE RESEARCH: CASE OF CMIP6 GCMs?”

His lecture was followed by python training certificates presentation. The presentation of awards was aimed to honour the current executives and members of the association for their hard work, sacrifices and commitment.
