Measures on Curriculum for International Undergraduates

The measures are stipulated for the purpose of strengthening the teaching management of international students in the university, further developing the cause of international education and enhancing the international exchanges.

I. Teaching Management

Article 1 Chinese-medium international undergraduates cultivation programs and English-medium international undergraduates cultivation programs are implemented to the Chinese-medium international undergraduates and English-medium international undergraduates, respectively. The cultivation of international undergraduates are uniformly organized by the Academic Affairs Office of the university and the related schools, and College of International Students provides collaborative management. 

II. Curriculum

Article 2 Chinese-medium international undergraduates shall follow the Chinese-medium international undergraduates cultivation programs. They are exempt from the courses such as College Chinese, College English, Marxism Theories, Political Ideological and Moral Cultivation, and Military Theories. Chinese and China Overview are compulsory courses. Chinese-medium international undergraduates majoring in the fields of science and engineering shall pass HSK level 4 before graduation. Chinese-medium international undergraduates majoring in the fields of management and arts shall pass HSK level 5 before graduation. International students will get different examination paper for compulsory courses, while the exams and assessments of elective courses are the same as those for full-time Chinese undergraduates. The examinations and tests are uniformly organized by the Academic Affairs Office of the university and the related schools, and College of International Students provides collaborative management. 

Article 3 International undergraduates in English medium shall take the courses according to the curriculum stipulated by College of International Students and relevant schools in the consideration of the discipline characteristics and the practical situations of international students. College of International Students is in charge of the organization and the management of exams and tests. 

III. Make-up exam and Re-study

Article 4 International students who failed or were absent in the examination shall take a make-up examination or re-study the particular course. The charge for re-studying is 300 CNY per credit. 

Article 5 Students who have been absent for a third (or more) of the total class hours of a course are unqualified to attend the final examination or test. Students whose truancy have reached 50 class hours in one semester, who have been absent in stipulated teaching activities for two consecutive weeks without approval, or who have not applied for suspension successfully but have been absent for a third (or more) of the total class hours of one semester will be withdrawn from the university. Students who are unable to finish the academic programs of their grade shall repeat the study of the same grade or withdraw from the university. 

IV. Duration

Article 6 International undergraduates can study in the university for at most 6 years.

V. Graduation Requirements

Article 7 Chinese-medium international undergraduates shall finish all the courses assigned in the cultivation program with qualified grades in the designated study period. The total credits shall reach prescribed amount for his/her own specialty. Chinese-medium international undergraduates majoring in the fields of science and engineering shall pass HSK level 4 before graduation. Chinese-medium international undergraduates majoring in the fields of management and arts shall pass HSK level 5 before graduation. Chinese-medium international undergraduates shall submit HSK exam result report in appropriate level to College of International Students by December 30 on the year ahead of designated year of graduation, or he/she will be listed in the Academic Warming.

Article 8 International undergraduates in English medium shall finish all the courses in the cultivation plan with qualified grades in the designated study period. The total credits shall reach 120 or above.

Article 9 International transfer students can apply to the university for the credit recognition if they get the credits from overseas universities that are recognized by the Ministry of Education in China, but the recognized credits shall be no more than 60. International transfer students shall study in the university for at least 2 years and get at least 60 credits which include credits of at least ten specialized compulsory courses.

Article 10 International exchange students who will get diplomas of two universities shall study in the university for at least 2 years and get at least 60 credits which include credits of at least ten specialized compulsory courses.

Article 11 International undergraduates shall not get criminal detention or more serious penalties due to violation of Chinese laws and regulations during the study period. 

VI. Others

Article 12 The certificate of graduation awarded to international undergraduates is written in Chinese.

Article 13 The university shall issue the certificate of completion to international undergraduates who fail in the dissertation (graduation design) or course study. The university shall issue the certificate of study to international undergraduates who withdraw from the university. 

Article 14 The measures shall be carried out upon the release. The Academic Affairs Office of the university and College of International Students are responsible for the interpretation.
