Regulations on Examination Disciplines

The regulations are stipulated for the purpose of maintaining the seriousness and justification of examinations, testing and improving the teaching quality through examinations, cultivating a good study and examination atmosphere and developing and standardizing the definition of violation of the exam disciplines with reference to the relevant files issued by the Ministry of Education and the practical situations of the university.

I. Examination Disciplines

Article 1 The examinee should arrive at the exam room within the stipulated time. Any examinee being late for over 15 minutes without proper reasons will be disqualified from the exam and regarded as absent from the exam.

Article 2 The examinee should bring the student card (or ID card) and the essential stationery when entering the exam room. School bags, books (including e-dictionary), notebooks, paper, communication devices, etc. are not allowed in the exam room. Any examinee that has brought aforementioned things into the room should put all of them at the assigned place and turn off the communication devices at the same time. Examiners don’t assume the responsibility to take care of the articles that are not allowed in the exam room. Examinees take full responsibility if these articles are lost or damaged. Examiners should order students to get out of the exam room if they don’t have the stipulated credentials. Students who attend an open-book exam should bring relevant materials in line with teachers’ requirements.

Article 3 The examinee should take the assigned seats and put the student card or ID card on the desk for checking. If the examinee finds that the desk hasn’t been cleaned up, he/she should clean up the desk before the test paper is handed out. Otherwise, he/she will be regarded as cheating.

Article 4 The examinee should comply with the instruction of the examiners and finish the test independently. Any cheating and rule-breaking behavior is forbidden.

Article 5 During the exam, the examinee is not allowed to leave the exam room without permission. Otherwise, it will be regarded that he/she has handed in the exam paper.

Article 6 During the exam, the examinee is not allowed to communicate with others. If the examinee needs to borrow some stationary or articles, he/she should be approved by the examiners. If the examinee has some questions about the test or if there is some unclear writing in the test paper, the examinee should hand up first and wait for examiner’s settlement.

Article 7 The examinee can leave the exam room 30 minutes after the examination.

Article 8 The examinee should hand in the test paper on time and leave the exam room immediately. The examinee is not allowed to overstay and make noise in the exam room.

II. Definition of Violations

Article 9 The examinee will be considered violating the exam disciplines in any of the following situations:

1. Bring articles that are not allowed in the exam room and meanwhile do not put them at the assigned place;

2. Do not take assigned seats;

3. Start to answer the questions before the starting signal is sent out or continue to answer the questions after the ending signal is sent out;

4. Peep, whisper, or make signals or gestures to other students during the exam;

5. Make noise, smoke in the exam room or commit other acts that influence the order of the exam room;

6. Enter and leave the exam room during the exam without the examiner's permission;

7. Take the test paper, the answer paper (hereinafter including the answer cards and the answer sheets) and the drafts out of the exam room without permission;

8. Answer the questions without stipulated pens or answer sheets, or write the name and student No. outside the assigned place or leave marks on the answer sheet;

9. Other violations that do not constitute a cheating.

Article 10 The examinee will be considered cheating in any of the following situations:

1. Bring materials which are related to the test or the electronic devices which save materials related to the test into the exam room; bring articles that are forbidden in the open-book examination;

2. Copy or help others copy the answers or the materials related to the test;

3. Threaten others to make convenience for copying;

4. Use communication devices during the exam;

5. Pay others to take exams for him/her or takes tests for others;

6. Destroy the test paper, the answer sheet, exhibits or materials on purpose;

7. Do not write the correct name and the student No. on the answer sheet;

8. Exchange the test paper, the answer sheet or the draft with others;

9. Obtain or try to obtain the answers or the exam score by improper means.

III. Punishments of Violations

Article 11 The examinee that violates the exam disciplines or cheats in the exam will be immediately disqualified from the exam and the exam score will be invalid (If it is the mid-term exam, the mid-term score of total mark of the course will be zero).

Article 12 If the examinee is caught violating the exam disciplines or cheating, the examiner should point it out immediately and honestly fill it in Form of Exam Room Situation. The examiner should also confiscate the materials and the articles used for cheating and hand them to the Academic Affairs Office of the university with the Form of Exam Room Situation after the exam.

Article 13 The Academic Affairs Office of the university is in charge of the definition of the examinee’s violation of the exam disciplines and shall notice the school the student affiliated to and the Student Disciplinary Committee of the university in written report.

Article 14 The relevant departments give relevant penalties according to Regulations on Penalties for Discipline Breach.

IV. Power of Interpretation

Article 15 The Academic Affairs Office is authorized by the university for the interpretation of the regulations.
